Fully Buffered DIMM architecture introduces an Advanced Memory Buffer (AMB) between the memory controller and the memory module. Unlike the parallel bus architecture of traditional DRAMs, an FBDIMM has a serial interface between the memory controller and the AMB.
FBDIMM validation requires a method of connection to the logic analyzer or oscilloscope and a suite of software to assist in the setup and analysis of the acquired data. All Nexus products come with advanced software for quick and easy setup.
FBDIMM Products
FBDIMM hardware adapters are available as FBD LAI (logic analyzer interface) interposers and NEXVu FBDIMMs. The FBD LAI interposer probes the FBDIMM channel to show all traffic on the channel whereas the NEXVu FBDIMM probes the DDR2 traffic between the AMB (advanced memory buffer) and the DDR2 memory components. Our NEX-DDR-PROTOCOL protocol analysis software provides best-in-industry analysis to see that the DDR2 protocol adheres to the JEDEC specification.
