NEX-EISA
The NEX-EISA support package provides clocking, setup,
symbolic disassembly, and a quick convenient connection to the
EISA bus. It includes a custom interface card which plugs into a
full length slot of an EISA compatible backplane.
Symbolic Disassembly: After an acquisition is made the
NEX-EISA support identifies the type of transaction that
occurred. For example, it will identify IOWC~, IORC~, SMRDC~,
SMWTC~, MWTC~, MRDC~, W-R~, and M-IO~. Also identified are:
IO16~, EX32~, EX16~, RFRSH~, MSTR16~, BALE, MSBRST~, SLBRST~,
BCLK, EXRDY, NOWS~, START~, ISAWR, IRQ'S, DRQ'S, DAK'S AEN'S
MREQ'S, MAK'S CHRDY, IOCHK~, T-C, and RESDRV.
Timing Analysis: By acquiring data in asynchronous mode
on the Tektronix Logic Analyzer, high speed accurate timing
measurements can be made of the EISA Bus.
Correlating Bus Activity: While the NEX-EISA package is
being used to monitor the EISA bus activity, another acquisition
module can be used to monitor activity elsewhere in the system.
The results of the two acquisitions can be correlated in time to
determine the sequence of actions that occurred. For instance,
the system microprocessor could be monitored and correlated with
bus activity to verify the proper response to an external
interrupt condition.
Signal Monitoring: Jumper areas are provided to select some of
the signals to be monitored. One each of the Interrupt (IRQ),
Data Request (DRQ), and Data Acknowledge (DAK~) signals can be
chosen. Also, a choice is possible between CMD~ and LOCK~.
Clips are also provided to be used in acquiring the EISA slot
specific signals AEN, MREQ~, and MAK~.
